There are many benefits of breastfeeding for mom and baby. Breastfeeding provides protection against infection, excellent nutrition and growth factors for babies, along with prevention from future diseases.  Mom’s heal better when breastfeeding. Breastmilk is full of antibodies which help fight infection. Babies that are breastfed are less likely to get ear infections, respiratory viruses, or other serious bacterial infections. Formula does not have antibodies and can’t protect babies from disease.

Babies who are breastfed are also less likely to develop allergies, diabetes, and intestinal diseases and have fewer issues with stomach upset, constipation and diarrhea. Feeding your baby breast milk helps develop their brain and vision, too. Babies who breast feed develop their oral muscles better and therefore better speech development. Babies who are breastfed have higher intelligence scores.

For moms, breastfeeding helps contract the uterus and prevent heavy bleeding. Breastfeeding is inexpensive, with no extra cost of formula and supplies. Moms can bond better with their babies.

Breastfeeding releases a hormone Prolactin, that helps moms feel relaxed and sleep better. Research shows that moms who breastfeed are less likely to get breast cancer, ovarian cancer, depression, rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes. Breast milk has everything your baby needs to grow and develop the healthiest body possible. Breastmilk is always ready, warm and fresh.

Talk to your doctor about the benefits of breastfeeding, and if you need support we can help.
