The 2015 Fall Primary Care Conference, one of the nation’s largest gatherings of primary care providers and community health administrators, was held in Seattle, WA on October 17-20th. Valley-Wide Health Systems’ Ricardo Velasquez, MD, Ashley Absmeier, DPT, and Justin Hanel, Pharm.D were all in attendance and gave some interesting presentations.
Dr. Ricardo Velasquez and Justin Hanel, Pharm.D, presented on “Integrating Clinical Pharmacology into Primary Care at a Rural FQHC” where they described the journey, partnerships, challenges and successes of addressing patient needs and improving medication and therapeutic services for patients in a large rural Community Health Center.
Ashley Absmeier, DPT presented on “Physical Therapy as a Tool in Managing the Chronic Pain Patient” where she discussed how Physical Therapy can be an effective alternative to medication management for chronic pain and how it can lead to long term benefits for the patient.
