As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Lindsay Barraza’s philosophy of care is rooted in providing accessible, equitable, and culturally responsive mental health services within rural and underserved communities. She recognizes the unique challenges patients face, including limited access to care, stigma surrounding mental health, transportation barriers, and socioeconomic disparities and is committed to reducing these barriers by delivering compassionate, patient-centered care that meets individuals where they are. Lindsay utilizes a holistic, biopsychosocial approach that integrates mental health with primary care, acknowledging the strong connection between physical and behavioral health. She prioritizes building trusting relationships and fostering continuity of care, which are essential in rural communities.
Originally from the San Luis Valley, Lindsay has always found the rural community comforting. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, going on trips, being outdoors, and experiencing new things. She also finds joy in working with students in the health care field outside of her primary position. Lindsay is passionate about helping others and says her childhood dream was to become a lawyer.
