Michelle Chavez was born and raised in the San Luis Valley. She believes in a holistic and multifaceted approach to treatment, primarily using humanistic, cognitive behavioral therapy, and client-centered therapy. She feels everyone has the ability to reach their life’s full potential and they possess qualities they need to flourish. She practices motivational interviewing on a regular basis so that her patients are directly involved in their care and guides them in making life-lasting, positive changes.
Michelle began her career as a licensed as a professional counselor in New Mexico in 1999 where she was employed in an adolescent treatment facility offering individual, family and group therapy as well as a behavioral health provider working within the NM Juvenile Justice Division. She is presently certified to provide brain synchronization therapy for trauma processing and acudetox. Michelle is also bilingual and provides treatment to Spanish speaking patients.
Michelle enjoys spending time with her family, travelling, fishing, camping, attending concerts and sporting events. She loves watching NBA and is an avid Denver Nuggets fan. Michelle also loves music of all genres and plays the piano.
