Michelle Chavez, LPC believes in a holistic and multifaceted approach to treatment, primarily using humanistic or client-centered therapy. She feels that everyone has the ability to reach their full potential and they possess qualities they need to flourish. She practices motivational interviewing on a regular basis so that her patients are directly involved in their care and to help them make life-lasting, positive changes.
Michelle has previous experience as a mental health provider in a residential treatment facility and in a juvenile probation office. She has also worked as a substitute teacher and probation officer. Michelle’s areas of expertise include: motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and client-centered therapy.
Michelle was born in Alamosa and raised in La Jara. She enjoys spending time with her family, travelling, attending concerts and sporting events, fishing and camping in the summer months. She loves watching NBA and is a huge Denver Nuggets fan. Michelle also loves music of all genres and plays piano. Fun fact, she has been a KISS fan since she was 5 years old; she has attended 14 KISS concerts and met the band on three occasions!
