This past December, Valley-Wide Health Systems hosted its annual “Share the Magic” event designed to raise funds for La Puente Home Inc. This past year’s event raised over $63,000, which was then donated to La Puente to aide in the organization’s mission of serving the homeless.
Recently, Valley-Wide CEO Gigi Darricades was joined by La Puente’s Executive Director, Lance Cheslock and Dr. John Taylor, Director of Adams State University’s Theatre Department to present the check from the 2017 event.
All three community leaders readily acknowledged the instrumental role that partnership between the three organizations has played in the event’s success.
“La Puente is one of the treasures of the San Luis Valley,” said Darricades at the presentation. “The organization meets people where they are and provides a path to living with dignity.”
Cheslock was just as complimentary. “Having the credibility of an organization like Valley-Wide Health Systems stand next to us means so much,” he stated.
Cheslock and Darricades however, emphasized that the event would not be successful without Taylor’s leadership and contributions through the ASU Theatre department.
“It’s an important part of our programming and works with the ethos of the theatre program,” said Taylor. “Our participation in Share the Magic is a story that is used to recruit students and travels beyond the Valley.”
The 2018 Share the Magic event will again be a story of partnership between Valley-Wide, La Puente, and ASU Theatre. It will be held during the holiday season.
