Valley-Wide Health Systems recently recognized staff at our Convenient Care Community Clinic in Alamosa for their continued efforts throughout this past flu season. The work that this team accomplished, along with our La Junta Convenient Care team, truly made an impact on the communities we serve.
The peak of the 2017-18 influenza season in Colorado saw drastic numbers of reported cases per week, as Figure 1 shows. In the San Luis Valley, 74 cases were hospitalized, of which 58% were elderly patients. In Las Animas and Otero Counties, 22 patients were hospitalized. Fremont County saw 34 patients hospitalized.
