The 32 children at Jump Start Preschool in Las Animas, CO were all smiles after being visited by members of Valley-Wide Las Animas Dental Clinic this week.
The team of Jenna Hijar, Registered Dental Hygienist and Donna Hunt, Dental Patient Navigator, along with Clinic Manager Roberta Calkins-Mendoza presented on the importance of oral health, brushing, flossing, and seeing your dentist on a regular basis.
“It is always great to get out into the community we serve,” said Calkins-Mendoza. “We are fortunate to provide health and dental services to the communities we work in and this is a great way to show our appreciation.”
The presentation also focused on the “2×2+20 Rule”, which means brushing two times per day, two minutes each time, and reading 20 minutes.
Following the presentation, Hijar read Dr. Seuss’, The Big Tooth.
Each child was given a goodie bag with a toothbrush, sticker, and informational handouts for parents and guardians. Additionally, teachers were given a letter to hand out to parents and guardians.
“We love seeing how excited the kids get,” said Calkins-Mendoza. “Thank you to all of the members of Jump Start Preschool that helped put this on.”
