On February 27, 2015, Marisa Atencio was a nominee selected for the Florence Nightingale Award, a well-deserved recognition!
Marisa began her journey with Valley-Wide Health Systems over eight years ago as an Executive Assistant while working her way through college. A single parent with strong family support, Marisa persevered and obtained her registered nursing degree. Dedicated to Valley-Wide Health Systems, she immediately began to share her passion to care for others at the Convenient Care Community Clinic leading by example with creativity and innovation. Marisa is well known throughout the organization and has consistently earned the respect from her peers as a strong, knowledgeable leader with an abundance of compassion and servant leadership traits that are infused in everything she does.
On top of excelling in her leadership role, Marisa is an advocate for safe practice and participates on several committees: Cultural Competency, Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Immunization Coalition, Chair to the TSJC Medical Assistant Program, and Information Technology Core Group in an effort to make more changes reflective of good patient outcomes, improved patient satisfaction, cultural diversity, and decreased illness in a vulnerable population.
