Starting Monday, June 25th, the City of Alamosa will begin the next phase of their 1st Street improvement project. This closure will last approximately 7-8 weeks, and will go from just beyond the ramp at AFMC, all the way down to Monterey.
During this time, patients and staff should access the parking lot by driving up the AFMC ramp, and exit the parking lot through the alley and head south to 2nd Street. The traffic flow will only be one way. Below is a drawing for reference.
It’s imperative that during this time, we don’t have any vehicles parked on the AFMC ramp for any reason. We would encourage staff, when possible, to use the Nielsen Library parking lot across the street that is accessed from Faculty Drive.
Facilities will be working with AFMC staff to provide an appropriate patient loading/unloading zone, and Monday morning, Facilities will put up signage to help direct traffic and keep the confusion to a minimum. Furthermore, for at least Monday, June 25th, 1st Street will be closed to two-way traffic from Faculty Dr. to Edgemont. We are trying to get confirmation, however it should be acceptable for westbound traffic to take a left turn up the ramp. Lastly, anybody who works with third party vendors should contact them regarding the temporary traffic flow, as well as the closure of the ramp for parking.
