On Wednesday October 21, 2015 Valley-Wide Health Systems participated in a SLV Regional Pandemic Drill/Exercise with the State of Colorado. Valley-Wide did a mock simulation of how we would respond during a pandemic utilizing Alamosa Family Medical Center (AFMC) and the Administrative Services Building. AFMC Staff actually had gowns & mask on, explained the drill/exercise to patients and had test patients who were treated and released. At the Administrative Services Building an Internal Incident Command was set-up and communicated with the local Healthcare Coalition via e-mail, 800mHz radios and teleconferencing.
We learned to share information in a timely manner, set up public messaging, share supplies and monitor patient outbreak so all facilities can work efficiently together for the health care needs of the communities we service.
