The Valley-Wide Ride
Friendly, familiar and free, The Valley-Wide Ride offers transportation for anyone in the San Luis Valley and Lower Arkansas Valley area. We pick you up and take you where you need to go – your doctor’s appointment, your dental checkup, or even your weekly grocery trip. Recently we added a wheelchair accessible van to the San Luis Valley fleet to accommodate passengers that may need that option.
*Transportation services are currently limited to pick-ups and drop-offs within the San Luis Valley and the Lower Arkansas Valley, but we hope to soon expand to all of Valley-Wide’s service areas. We will not be providing regional transportation to Pueblo or Colorado Springs.
How does this work?
Call 1-833-350-1113 ext. 1025 to arrange your pickup and destination with our Transportation team. We require a minimum of 24 hours to put in a request for a ride. A request does not guarantee a ride. Scheduling is first come, first served. Booking your ride more than 24 hours in advance is recommended. Rides can be booked out as far as 30 calendar days.
Our driver will come to the pickup location you’ve provided, pick you up and take you to your destination. Your reservation will also include a pick-up from your destination and drop-off to your original location.
Rides are available on a reservation basis, and patient visits to healthcare appointments take precedence over all other ride types. As a result, rides may not be available for your preferred time or location if our reservations are filled with pickups for healthcare appointments.
It says free – but is it really free?
Yes! It is really free. Valley-Wide Health Systems provides the service for the benefit of patients and community members who may not have a car or other access to a ride.
Do you have to be a Valley-Wide patient in order to get a ride?
Nope! The service is available to anyone in the Alamosa, Monte Vista, San Luis, Antonito, and Lower Arkansas Valley area. And, as soon as we can expand this program, it will also become available in other Valley-Wide service areas!
However, passengers must be 18 years of age or older to ride alone. A parent or legal guardian must accompany minors or they cannot ride.
Where can I go?
Because the Valley-Wide Ride is free, services are limited to “health and well-being” trips such as:
Medical/Dental/Behavioral Health appointments will be prioritized.
- Medical/Dental/Behavioral Health appointments
- Convenient Care/Hospital visits of non-emergent nature
- Prescription pick up
- Social Services (Anything related to Department of Human Services)
- Unemployment Services/Workforce Centers
- Court House/Legal Services
- Grocery Stores
- Libraries
- Gyms
- Laundromats
- Wheelchair accessible van available to anyone in the San Luis Valley region
What hours does this transportation service run?
- To call and reserve a ride – Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Ride pickups and drop-offs – Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. (Last drop-off by 7 p.m., No pickups after 6 p.m.)
What are you doing to clean and disinfect the Ride in between patients?
Each time the driver drops off a passenger, the interior of the car is completely wiped down with sanitizing wipes that are to kill off bacteria and viruses, including the COVID-19 Coronavirus. We require all drivers and passengers to wear a mask while inside the car. This is for the safety of both driver and passenger. If you do not have a mask, please notify the call center when you make your appointment so that we can have a disposable mask available for you.
Terms and Conditions
