Dr. Andrew Russell enjoys working as a family physician because it means he gets to work as a team and the patient is the most important member of that team. He believes that by working together, he and the patient can increase the health of the individual and the community. Dr. Russell believes every patient has the right to define what health is for themselves, and it is his role to respect and safely support the patient in their effort to find wellness. He welcomes patients of all backgrounds, but has special interest in increasing healthcare access to marginalized populations. He has a special interest in buprenorphine therapy for opioid use disorder, and gender-expansive and transgender healthcare.
Dr. Russell is originally from Utah, but has been living in New Mexico for several years, and has come to love the snowy Mountain West. He is excited about living in the San Luis Valley with his dog, his partner, and their chickens. In his free time, Dr. Russell enjoys skiing, hunting, great meals, and listening to live music.
