Jonathon worked in retail and customer service for many years before choosing to pursue a career in mental health. His first job in the healthcare field was working with individuals who had developmental disabilities. He quickly realized that being able to provide support and assistance with clients became very fulfilling, and he enjoyed the opportunity to interact and get to know people.
In 2015, Jonathon became a peer specialist at Southeast Health Group where he was able to continue interact with clients while working to obtain his state certification in addiction counseling. He also spent some time working in the withdrawal management unit (detox) in 2018 where he was able to gain further knowledge about substance use and addiction. After obtaining his CAS, he moved to outpatient care and has continued to find his work very fulfilling and rewarding. He feels fortunate to have the opportunity to work with and help others.
