Dr. Spencer Hegerhorst grew up in a small town in Oregon where he learned to love the outdoors. He attended Kansas City University of Medicine & Biosciences College of Osteopathic Medicine. Spencer’s interests include rural medicine, emergency medicine, and wilderness medicine.
Spencer is currently one of four physicians in the Southern Colorado Family Medicine/Alamosa Rural Training Track Residency Program. He chose this specific residency program because of the emphasis it places on rural, underserved populations. Coming from a small town, he knew that he wanted to practice rural medicine, and the RTT Program has all the tools to help him achieve that goal.
In his spare time, Dr. Hegerhorst can be found hunting, fishing, camping or hiking. He also enjoys backpacking, playing piano and guitar, aviation, cooking and woodworking.
