Summer McDonald grew up in northeastern Colorado on a farm and ranch. She appreciates the ethics and sense of responsibility that her upbringing gave her. As a provider, Summer believes that every person experience life differently – even if situations are similar – and that the mind and body are inextricably linked. Everyone experiences struggles and handles those struggles differently; thus, everyone deserves understanding, kindness and support, regardless of history. Summers main area of interest is therapeutic services, and she has mostly worked with young adults and adults with most clients struggling with symptoms of depression and anxiety.
During her undergraduate studies, Summer enrolled in a general psychology course and fell in love with the subject. “I find psychology and the workings of the brain absolutely fascinating. I’ve always been the person friends and family turn to for advice.” She enjoys witnessing her patients experience “aha!” moments following a brainstorming session, as well as the relief and validation they feel when someone truly listens to their concerns.
Outside of the clinic, Summer loves to read and craft. Currently, she is re-teaching herself how to crochet. Her favorite season is autumn, and she has a passion for singing, with a vocal range that spans from low alto to operatic soprano! If given the chance to spend a day with anyone, it would be her grandma who she lost recently and misses dearly.
